This must have crossed Luismi Mart\u00edn\u2019s mind when he thought about this solidal transport project. After being touched by some TV footage concerning the cold and suffering migrants in Lesvos, Greece, during a conversation with his wife he decided to take action. The manager of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raudovan.com\/\"><strong>RaudoVan<\/strong><\/a> (and one of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wtransnet.com\/es\/\"><strong>Wtransnet<\/strong><\/a> network partners) did not want to lose the opportunity to help and do something lots of people needed. As he says, he <strong>wanted to see it with his own eyes first:<\/strong> \u201cI need to go there and understand who is being helped, why and how\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A commitment to help<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Marta Sagrist\u00e0 is not just the RaudoVan marketing and communication manager, she has also been essential in supporting Luismi Mart\u00edn\u2019s project. She knew from the beginning that his idea would have been successful: \u201cHe\u2019s just like this, a heart-giving person\u201d, Sagrist\u00e0 says. In order to be successful, they knew they had to spread the word to fully impact the cooperation community and start the clothes and shoes donations. Groups of volunteers created by acquaintances and neighbours began collecting, leading municipalities like <strong>Cornell\u00e0<\/strong> and <strong>Wtransnet<\/strong> to participate. This collaboration led to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/wtransnet\/videos\/vb.115781951775246\/1356518454368250\/?type=3&amp;theater\"><strong>10 industrial-use bags charging of clothes<\/strong><\/a>, answering a quest for goods that expanded successfully. Today\u2019s collection has risen to a new point where they have to select, discard or deposit in other place all the clothing they encounter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Being there \u201con the field\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe started with an express delivery, a \u2018really express\u2019 one\u201d Mart\u00edn says. Although laughing, he is telling us the story of a <strong>72 hours<\/strong> journey that lasted three days (between January 25<sup>th<\/sup> and 28<sup>th<\/sup>). He had to take two boats to deliver. In order to successfully carry out the project RaudoVan looked for an organization that had some active presence on the field. They encountered a partner in the Swiss company <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sao.ngo\/\"><strong>SAO<\/strong><\/a>, who owns a warehouse in Attica. SAO\u2019s person in charge is Aris, RaudoVan\u2019s main contact in Greece, who elaborated a list with the camps\u2019 primary needs of goods.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wtransnet.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/RaudoVan-SAO-Solidal-Transport.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1477 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wtransnet.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/RaudoVan-SAO-Solidal-Transport.png\" alt=\"raudovan-sao-solidal-transport\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.wtransnet.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/RaudoVan-SAO-Solidal-Transport.png 500w, https:\/\/blog.wtransnet.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/RaudoVan-SAO-Solidal-Transport-300x180.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Greece both Luismi and his attendant Poli could realize with their eyes wide open the harshness of the situation. They quickly sympathized \u201clooking at Lesvos\u2019 footage and understanding that people were spending their time in low-end tent at the cold temperature of minus 5 degrees. Luismi also feels that the feeling he has could be conflicted: \u201cbeing touched <strong>by such a level of poverty<\/strong> in a different reality is shocking, as well as acknowledging <strong>the humanitarian side<\/strong> of people\u201d. He also complains about the fact that \u201cunfortunately there is a <strong>human trafficking issue <\/strong>here, reaching several countries\u2019 interests\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The initial plan to stay there for five days extended in the end. According to Mart\u00edn, they decided to squeeze the journey to lend a hand doing different services with a van in the dire needing areas surrounding Lesvos. They collaborated with other associations such as <strong>Open Arms<\/strong>, <strong>Proactiva<\/strong> and <strong>Dirty<\/strong> <strong>Girls<\/strong>. Furthermore, Mart\u00edn believes that \u201carriving there, building contacts and understand how to work\u201d has been crucial to plan further actions on the field. He acknowledges that this one \u201cis a very long conflict and those living in the campsites are now familiarizing with this kind of life since it represents their day-by-day situation and it doesn\u2019t seem to come to an end\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wtransnet.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/RaudoVan-Solidal-Transport.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1478\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wtransnet.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/RaudoVan-Solidal-Transport.png\" alt=\"raudovan-solidal-transport\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.wtransnet.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/RaudoVan-Solidal-Transport.png 500w, https:\/\/blog.wtransnet.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/RaudoVan-Solidal-Transport-300x180.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>To keep on actions in the future<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alter knowing the real situation of Attica\u2019s warehouse, Luismi Mart\u00edn\u2019s idea was to cooperate in the management and coordination \u201cgiving a <strong>short logistic <\/strong>training\u201d for all those working there. He wanted to avoid turmoil, which is a current issue. This could also represent the cornerstone in building a real cooperative network. According to the manager, \u201conce made the ties\u201d he can move on in giving life to other possible projects.<\/p>\n<p>The most impending one comes around in few weeks. There will be a shipping that will allow the company to use a van with<strong> folding kitchens <\/strong>to grant a greater independence to those living in <strong>Karatepe<\/strong>\u2019s campsite. Furthermore, RaudoVan\u2018s manager wants to promote specific projects related to the <strong>promotion of sports<\/strong>. Being a big rugby fan, he would love to bring the sport to these people.
