The crisis increases groupage loads at the expense of full loads
Wtransnet freight Exchange, reflects a situation resulting from the crisis: increased groupage loads, partial loads, – at the expense of full loads.
This is motivated because the companies were purchasing before goods for full trailer trucks, have reduced the volume of purchases, going to make purchases of goods that do not require a full trailer truck, but only a few meters from where transport their pallets.
Wtransnet has a specific exchange for groupage, where the companies with partial loads and willing to share a vehicle with hauliers that offer the space they have left in his truck and therefore can make the transport of these loads.
During 2011, a total of 3 million offers loads were registered in the exchange. That is, 1 in 3 groupage loads is less than 8 meters. In numbers, groupage loads doubled over the previous year. Companies offering have been mainly French and German.
These statistics is promising for the sector and especially for users of the groupage exchange, which are immediately alerted when the system enters an offer that matches the meters empty in the truck, for the same route and date of availability, as it opens a new way of business for hauliers.
Only hauliers need to pay attention to these changes taking place and be alert, not only full loads from one origin to a destination, but also the partial loads totaling multiple shippers can monetize their trips.
